Meet the Self-Made Women Redefining Success in 2025

From fashion and beauty to governance, entertainment, and entrepreneurship, women have proven that no field is off-limits. Whether starting from a single sewing machine, launching a business from home, leading billion-dollar projects, or taking Indian talent global, these trailblazers show that women can be visionaries, leaders, creators, and changemakers—all at once. Their journeys are powerful reminders that with passion, grit, and purpose, women truly can be everything.

The Self-Made Women in 2025:

Creative director and founder, Anamika Khanna and AK|OK (IndianFashion Designer)

In 2007, Anamika Khanna became the first Indian designer to showcase her collection at Paris Fashion Week, gaining international fame. She started with just one sewing machine and is now known for blending traditional Indian fabrics and embroidery with modern fashion. Her designs are sold in India and abroad, and celebrities like Sonam Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Jennifer Lopez, and Shakira have worn her creations. She now has five flagship stores and is present in 20 multi-brand outlets across the world, including the UK, US, and UAE.

Mira Kulkarni (Managing director of Forest Essentials)

In her mid-40s, Mira Kulkarni turned her passion into a business and started Forest Essentials from home with just Rs 2 lakh and two employees. Without spending on ads, the brand grew through word-of-mouth and later supplied products to luxury hotels and spas. Today, Forest Essentials is a $1 billion, debt-free ayurvedic beauty brand, with a major investment from global cosmetics company Estée Lauder.

Rohini Iyer broke into Bollywood’s male-dominated publicity scene and turned Raindrop Media into one of the most powerful firms, working with stars like Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, and Shahid Kapoor. Over 20 years, she built a strong network of businesses. Her latest venture, Rain Reign Talent, and an upcoming OTT and film company aim to take Indian talent and stories to global audiences.
